Atyrau Region History and Local History Museum — Official Website Development
Task

Client brief

The main repository of memory for the Atyrau region — a state-owned enterprise under the Department of Culture. The website had to accomplish three goals simultaneously: a tool for visitors (schedules, pricing, online booking), a showcase for the academic community (collections, publications, expeditions), and a mandatory government platform (open data, public procurement, anti-corruption sections). The package included: a multilingual interface, visitor sections (opening hours, ticket prices, discounts, photography and video rules), an online tour booking form, a detailed paid services section (exhibition organization, in-hall photo and video shoots, travelling exhibitions, student internships), a virtual tour, an academic section, and all mandatory government pages. Despite the complex structure, the website turned out clear and intuitive. Every section is in its place, and navigation is effortless: both a visitor looking up ticket prices and a researcher searching for the collections department contact find what they need on the first try.
Outcome

What we shipped

Launched a multilingual website with online tour booking; implemented a virtual tour; built a detailed paid services section; created an academic section and all mandatory government pages.
Solution

How we did it

The Atyrau regional museum came to us with a special challenge: reconciling the irreconcilable. A tourist, a schoolteacher with her class, a photographer, a researcher, a government official — each has different needs, and the website had to work for all of them. We started with a detailed audit of each audience's needs and built the information architecture around the user, not the institution's internal structure. This key decision shaped the entire navigation logic. Online tour booking became one of the most important features. It looks like a simple form — but behind it lies real time savings for administrators and genuine convenience for groups planning a visit. We carefully worked through the field logic and notification flows, testing multiple times before launch. The virtual tour was especially important for this region: it covers a large area, and many potential visitors live far from the city centre.
