Investment Portal of the West Kazakhstan Region
Task

Client brief

The portal was developed by the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial-Innovative Development of the WKR as part of the Digital Kazakhstan program. Its purpose: to give investors everything they need to make an informed decision about investing in the region. The WKR covers 151,000 square kilometers, shares borders with five Russian regions, and is home to major oil and gas fields. The platform includes: an overview of the region, business ideas, government support, an investor guide, an investor service center, and an e-marketplace. Project registries cover completed, ongoing, and investment-seeking initiatives. Dedicated sections address PPP, the industrial zone, and available or undeveloped land plots. A standalone component is the geoinformation portal on a separate subdomain: an interactive map of investment sites, available land plots, and industrial zones, with a detailed profile card for each object.
Outcome

What we shipped

Solution

How we did it

An investment portal is a format where a single logic error is costly. Investors who open the site are skeptical and busy — if they can't find what they need in two minutes, they leave. If the data looks outdated, they leave. That kept us sharp. The most compelling part was the geoinformation portal. The idea was simple: investors need to see on a map what's available in the region. Without that, all the other sections are just text. We built several data layers — available plots, industrial zones, active projects — with a profile card for each object showing specifications, contacts, and status. Running the map on a separate subdomain gave us greater interface flexibility. The UPIIR team knew their content well: which projects to include, how to describe them, what data was current. That made our work easier — we didn't have to guess what mattered to investors, it was explained to us. That kind of collaboration is what produces quality results.
